Set up Hermes Agent

Configure Hermes with the LaRouter endpoint using separate model and API-key files.

Option 1: Use Configure

Hermes keeps its model configuration and key in separate files. This helper does not yet update the pair together; configure both files below.

Configuration file location

macOS
~/.hermes/config.yaml
Linux
~/.hermes/config.yaml
Windows
%USERPROFILE%\.hermes\config.yaml

These are default locations. For a tool running in WSL, use its Linux path inside WSL. If you changed the configuration directory, select the tool’s actual file. Your browser can only read or write files you select.

Option 2: Configure manually

Back up your files and replace only the placeholders shown below. Codex already uses gpt-5.6-sol. Use model names without router prefixes such as cx/. Keep tool-required local provider bindings such as larouter/ where shown, and preserve unrelated settings.

Setup steps

Merge the model block into config.yaml and put your key in .env in the same ~/.hermes directory (Windows: %USERPROFILE%\.hermes). If HERMES_HOME or a profile selects another directory, edit that profile’s files. Restart Hermes. To reset, use hermes model to select another provider and remove only the LaRouter key from .env.

~/.hermes/config.yaml
model:
  default: "YOUR_MODEL_ID"
  provider: "custom"
  base_url: "https://i-larouter.lapage.vn/v1"
  api_key: ${OPENAI_API_KEY}
~/.hermes/.env
OPENAI_API_KEY=YOUR_API_KEY
